In Must Know News…
- We’re beginning today with some election news from across the pond. France managed to block the right National Rally’s push for majority with a large surge of votes for the left, but no party was able to successfully gain a majority in Sunday’s election. This could lead to a national gridlock as the parties vie for the remaining National Assembly seats. In other news, the U.K.’s Labour Party won in a landslide, effectively putting an end to a 14 year-long conservative reign and making party leader Keir Starmer the new Prime Minister.
- Storm Beryl has shifted towards Houston, now likely to regain hurricane status as a category 1 or even 2 as it hits Texas this morning. Many school districts in the area have closed for the day and forecasters believe the winds could grow from their current 65 mph to as high as 85 with 5 to 10 inches of rainfall.
- Biden is just not getting the hint! Multiple House Democrats have reportedly stated that Biden should step down from the presidential race after his less-than-best performance at the presidential debate. Biden, however, called this request “nonsense” and continued on his campaign trail where he was welcomed at a church in Philadelphia to work on securing Black voters. He also visited the PA state capital to meet with union members.
