- The Supreme Court will reconsider the total abortion bans currently in place in 14 states in light of a Reagan-era emergency healthcare law. Federal law requires hospital emergency rooms to stabilize the health of patients, which could sometimes lead to an abortion in cases such as partial miscarriages and hemorrhaging. This is the first case of its kind to be brought to the Supreme Court, though judges expect many more.
- President Biden signed a 95 billion dollar Ukraine and Israel aid package and a nationwide TikTok ban into law yesterday. The ban will take effect in 9 months if ByteDance refuses to sell the app. The US has been secretly sending long-range missiles to Ukraine for the past several weeks as part of a 300 million dollar aid package passed in March.
- An Israeli-American citizen was seen for the first time in 201 days after a video of him was posted by Hamas on Wednesday. Hersh Goldberg-Polin was kidnapped during the October 7th attack. In the video, Hersh can be seen missing his lower arm. In response, Hersh’s parents Rachel and Jon created a response video saying “we love you, stay strong, survive.” Hersh is one of 133 hostages that still remain in captivity in Gaza.
