This week saw record-breaking temperatures, with Monday becoming the hottest day ever recorded globally, reaching an average of 62.87°F, surpassing even Sunday's record. FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed new details about an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, involving a drone and crude explosives. Elon Musk attended Israeli PM Netanyahu's speech in Congress, following the activation of Starlink in a Gaza hospital. Additionally, a tragic plane crash in Nepal claimed 18 lives, and New Zealand released a damning report on decades of abuse in state and religious institutions, calling for reparations for the affected, primarily indigenous Māori children and vulnerable adults. In Other Notable News:

  • With many congressmen and even Vice President Kamala Harris not being in attendance at Israeli PM Netanyahu’s address on Wednesday, one surprising guest did make the trek to Washington. Elon Musk was invited as Netanyahu’s guest after the Tesla CEO announced his satellite internet company, Starlink, has been activated in a Gaza hospital with the support of Israel.
  • A small passenger airplane departing Nepal’s capital Kathmandu’s airport crashed and caught on fire on Wednesday, killing 18 people on board while the pilot was the only survivor pulled from the wreckage.
  • A scorching review was released in New Zealand on Wednesday regarding the inquiry into decades of abuse and torture of individuals in state, foster, and religious institutions since 1950. The report found that an estimated 200,000 people, most of which were indigenous Māori children and vulnerable adults, had been mistreated by the country’s state agencies and now seek reparations as the nation apologizes for the decades of abuse.
  • The recent discovery of something called “dark oxygen” in metallic nodules on the seafloor has scientists questioning if ocean-borne oxygen relates to the beginning of life on Earth, as these nodules, void of sunlight needed for photosynthesis, have been able to produce more oxygen than what is being consumed. With still 95% of the ocean unexplored, maybe they’ll finally find Atlantis next!
