In Must Know News:
- Two students and two teachers were killed and 9 wounded in a Georgia highschool shooting. The 4 desceased included 2 students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo as well as two staff members, Richard Aspenwall and Christina Irimie. The suspect, 14 year old Colt Gray, was taken into custody after immediately surrendering and will be charged with murder and tried as an adult. As of now, no motive has been established and investigators are unsure whether it was a targeted attack.
- The US has seized Russian websites and charged two Russian state employees with spreading disinformation about the US presidential election. The measures are part of the US’s most sweeping efforts so far to resist Russian election interference, which also includes sanctions and visa restrictions. Intelligence officials have claimed that Moscow’s preference is Donald Trump, even after the Iranian hack earlier this year that targeted both parties.
- Ukrainian president Zelenskiy ordered a major government reshuffle as the war against Russia rages on. He claims the renewed leadership will give new life to the Ukrainian war effort, and is the biggest governmental reboot since Russia attacked in 2022. Four ministers have since resigned, while six applied for resignation, and their spots are yet to be filled.
- Backstabbing across the border as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau lost the support from the small party helping keep the minority Liberal government in power on Wednesday. Trudeau now must rely on support from opposition lawmakers as current polls have him losing miserably if an election were to take place immediately. Trudeau assured voters that he will continue to fight for Canadians and power through this upsetting blow before the election next year.
- Alec Baldwin is not in the clear yet as special prosecutor Kari Morrissey has filed to reinstate the manslaughter charges against Baldwin for the fatal shooting during the filming of “Rust”. Morrissey argues that Baldwin’s due process rights had not, in fact, been violated and there was insufficient evidence leading to the dismissal in July.
