In Must Know News:
- RFK Jr. 's running mate Nicole Shanahan revealed on a podcast Tuesday that their campaign is currently considering dropping out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsing Donald Trump. According to Shanahan, since Kennedy’s chances of winning the White House have slimmed in recent weeks, their campaign now faces two choices: either dropping out and running the risk of drawing votes from Trump, or staying in and forming the “new party.” 2024 keeps getting weirder!
- Last night, former President Barack Obama spoke at his old stomping ground of Chicago on Day 2 of the Democratic National Convention, endorsing VP Kamala Harris and saying “America is ready for a better story." In his speech, Obama also denounced former President Donald Trump, and concluded by saying, “let’s go to work.”
- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced Tuesday that Israel has agreed to withdrawing several IDF forces from Gaza, despite reported remarks from Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. Even so, a ceasefire agreement with Hamas has yet to be met, and Blinken left the Middle East yesterday warning that “time is of the essence” and that the focus now is to do everything to get “Hamas on board.”
- Donald Trump hosted a campaign rally earlier this week in Howell, Michigan, a city perhaps better known as the KKK capital of the crucial swing state. About a month ago, a white supremacist rally was held in the town, where demonstrators reportedly expressed support for the former president. However, Trump did not speak out against hate during his 45 minutes of remarks.
- A storm the likes of which only occurs once every thousand years hit the Northeast in Connecticut and New York, dropping over 10 inches of rain in 12 hours. The storm killed at least 3 people and caused widespread flooding. Scientists are saying that the deadly storm was a product of climate change, and these incidents may become more common if the Northeast continues to warm.
