Good morning everyone! Today is September 3rd, my name is Gabe, and you are listening to Current2, brought to you by Just Bagels! Use code “news” for 10% off your delicious order today.

In Must Know News:

  • Some updates on POTUS and– V-POTUS? President Biden told reporters Monday that he does not believe Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu is “doing enough” to secure a hostage deal with Hamas, his remarks coming just a day after massive protests erupted in Israel over the deaths of 6 more Israeli hostages. Meanwhile, VP Kamala Harris spoke with the President at a rally in Pittsburgh yesterday where she made a strong plea for U.S. Steel to remain in domestic hands.
  • Speaking of domestic hands, the US also announced the seizure of a plane yesterday belonging to Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro, which was transferred from the Dominican Republic to Florida, aka comfortably into our domestic hands. According to AG Merrick Garland, the plane was bought illegally for $13 million dollars and smuggled out of the US, aka out of our domestic han— okay, I’ll see myself out.
  • Did you guys know it’s nearly been 27 years since James Cameron’s Titanic came out? Well, all you Jack and Rose fans, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news for you: a portion of the iconic bow that spawned millions of “I’m King of the World” imitations has sadly fallen off the Titanic and now lies on the seafloor below, according to new images from RMS Titanic Inc., the exclusive owner of the ship’s salvage rights. Don’t worry, though: our hearts will go on.
  • Two US marines were attacked yesterday while docked in Turkey. The marines were “on liberty” from the USS Wasp at the time of the attack, and were promptly taken to a local hospital, though they have since returned to their ship. The investigation remains ongoing, and the Navy has yet to disclose more details on the situation.
  • The United Kingdom has suspended the sale of some arms to Israel. Following a review, Foreign Secretary David Lammy halted 30 of the 350 licenses being given to Israel, citing the risk the weapons pose in violating international humanitarian law. The licenses include equipment used in military aircraft, drones, and ground-targeting machines that have been used in the conflict in Gaza.

That’s all for your news today folks. If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to share it with you friends. Have a great rest of your week and as always, thank you for listening to Current2, the easy way to stay informed.
