- Ukraine claims to have caught 2 Russian secret agents among their ranks who were planning Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s assassination. The men were tasked with finding someone close to the presidential guard who would take Zelenskyy hostage and later kill him as a supposed “gift” for Putin as he was sworn into a new term. Today marks the 71 year olds 5th term as president of Russia.
- Social Security is now projected to last until 2035, one year later than previously thought. The shift is accredited to stronger economic performance by the US, marked by low unemployment and higher wage growth. The program’s 70 million beneficiaries funds won’t be depleted in 2035, rather, they will lose 17% of their current monthly checks due to more baby boomers retiring than new employees entering the workforce.
- Israel has begun a ground incursion in Rafah, Prior to this, Israel dropped thousands of leaflets into the city streets telling civilians to evacuate immediately. The incursion has closed off the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, one of the last entry points for humanitarian aid, while bombs begin to drop on the city.
