In Must Know News:
- Elon Musk was set to interview former President Donald Trump on X Monday after Trump posted a campaign ad on the platform for the first time in a year: key word was. Shortly after the start time of 8 p.m., the site showed the page was “not available” for many listeners, most likely due to technical problems, though Musk was quick to declare the difficulties the result of a “massive DDOS attack” on the platform, a claim that has yet to be substantiated.
- Ukraine’s top military commander, Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced Monday that their armed forces now control the equivalent of 386 square miles of the Russia-controlled Kursk region, the first such comment of any Ukrainian military official on the incursion that caught Russia and the world by surprise last week.
- U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered a guided missile submarine to the Middle East Monday and also told the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to “accelerate” its voyage from the Pacific to the area in anticipation of a possible Iranian strike against Israel that the US government believes could occur as soon as this week.
- A significant earthquake rocked LA yesterday afternoon, reaching a magnitude of 4.4. No major infrastructure damage was reported, but authorities are asking people to be prepared for aftershocks. Two small earthquakes have occured in LA since, but, according to experts, another larger one is unlikely.
- and a judge ruled against RFK Jr's bid to appear on the New York presidential ballot in November. This is all happening because a democratic aligned group sued Kennedy after he claimed residency in New York, despite residing in California. He said he and his wife had plans to move back east, and remain New Yorkers at heart, but I guess that didn’t quite hold up in court.
