In Must Know News…
- Biden and Trump accepted a historically early invitation to debate on June 27th of this year. The showdown will be broadcast on CNN, with the next confirmed debate scheduled for September 10. However, independent candidate RFK Jr. does not yet qualify for attendance at the event since he is not listed on the ballot in many states. He has stated that his exclusion is evidence of a conspiracy against him, though he expects to meet the criteria in time for the debate.
- Slovakian prime minister Robert Fico sustained life-threatening injuries in an assassination attempt yesterday. He was greeting members of the public when a gunman shot him 5 times. The suspect was immediately arrested, though a clear motive has not been established. Luckily, Fico’s condition has since stabilized as world leaders condemn the attack.
- Inflation cooled down in April as consumer prices slowed their upward trend. Grocery prices dropped 0.2%, though rent and other living costs such as gas and energy kept the overall cost of goods high. The reports suggest that demand is cooling due to these high costs, which will benefit the US economy as it prepares for a quote “soft landing” and decreased inflation.
