In Must Know News…
- Boeing will plead guilty to criminal fraud for its role in two fatal plane crashes, totalling 346 victims. The plea deal will have Boeing paying up to 487 million dollars in fines for intentionally hiding a faulty autopilot system in its 737 Max planes. Boeing will also be subject to 3 years of federal oversight, required investment in safety programs, and a meeting with victims’ families, though many of them oppose the deal. It’s hard to say if this is really justice served.
- Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu released a new statement on the future of ceasefire deals in Gaza. He claims that any ceasefire deal must allow Israel to resume fighting once its objectives are met, or, in other words, until Hamas is eliminated and all hostages are returned. In response, Hamas has dropped their demand for a permanent ceasefire, opting instead for a 6 week negotiation phase once a ceasefire begins.
- 2024 is on track to becoming Earth’s hottest year after June added on to the 13 month streak of warmest months ever recorded. The worldwide phenomenon can be attributed to man-made climate change as well as the El Nino weather event, which naturally warms global climates. But, don’t get too down about it. How does that song go? “The water’s getting warm, so you might as well swim?”
