- On Monday, Hamas agreed to a ceasefire proposal in Gaza by mediators, but Israel declined it under the claims that the terms did not meet their demands and continued to push with airstrikes in Rafah. In other news, Columbia University canceled its main graduation ceremony following weeks of protests on the campus, and have instead elected to host smaller ceremonies in lieu of a major commencement.
- Boeing announced plans to launch astronauts to the International Space Station for NASA, following years of delays and setbacks. The Starliner capsule launched two veteran pilots last night in an inaugural crewed test flight which was crucial in order for NASA to approve routine flights to the ISS by Boeing. If successful, Boeing can now challenge Elon Musk’s SpaceX for dominance in space exploration technology.
- The Met Gala took place last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with big names such as co-chairs Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez walking the red carpet. This year’s Met marked Zendaya’s first appearance in five years. The theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” with the dress code set as “The Garden of Time”.
