Hey everybody. I am Wally Rashid, a social media content creator who discusses geopolitics, Middle East and global affairs. There has been intense back and forth between the Yemeni Houthis and Israel this past weekend. So let's get into it. This recent clash started on Friday when an Iranian made drone sent by Yemen's Houthis struck Tel Aviv. This drone strike left one person dead and at least 10 wounded in the first lethal strike into Israel. The drone struck near the US Embassy and this was startling because this drone was able to penetrate Israel's multi layered air defense system. The Israeli military is investigating what went wrong stating that an error occurred and that there was no interception.

The spokesperson for the Houthis did claim responsibility for the attack in a statement published on the social media platform X. He stated it was in retaliation to Israel's onslaught in Gaza in retaliation to the Houthis drone strike. An Israeli aircraft hit the Yemeni port of Huda the following day on Saturday the 20th. This strike killed at least six people and injured scores more. It targeted oil facilities in the port on Yemen's west coast. Houthis spokesperson Mohammad Abdel Salman said the strikes had also hit civilian targets and a power station. He slammed what he said was quote brutal Israeli aggression aimed at increasing the suffering of the people of Yemen. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the port we attacked is not an innocent port. It was used for military purposes. It was used as an entry point for deadly weapons supplied to the Houthis by Iran the following day after Israel strikes on the Yemeni port killing six people. Israeli forces intercepted a surface to surface missile fired from Yemen. The missile did not cross into Israel territory but the IDF stated in a social media post on Sunday warnings of rocket and missile fire were issued out of concern that shrapnel could fall on residents although it was not immediately clear who launched the missile. A Houthi military spokesperson had promised retaliation for Israel's airstrikes on Saturday at the port of Hodeidah. Soon after the Houthi spokesperson did state that his group launched a quote number of missiles against targets in the southern Israeli port city of Ali.

That is an overview of the past weekend between the Houthis and Israel. We will see what comes from this. However, tensions are increasing if you are interested in more geopolitics and Middle East affairs, go ahead and give me a follow on tiktok and Instagram at Wally Rashid W A L L Y R A S H ID.
