Hello everyone! Today is Monday, September 23 my name is Sophia, and you’re listening to Current2 Pop Culture, the easy way to stay entertained.
IN POP CULTURE NEWS:
- John Mulaney and Olivia Munn welcome a new baby girl. Munn was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and complications from the illness prevented her from carrying another child. The couple welcomed their daughter via a surrogate. Munn said on Instagram quote…Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true…end quote.
- Janet Jackson apologized after spreading misinformation about Kamala Harris’ race. Jackson claimed to the Guardian that Harris was not Black, but Indian. According to her agent, the claims were based on misinformation Jackson received from other people.
- Hayden is setting the record straight regarding a recent interview that went viral and had fans worried about her health. In the clip, Panettiere was promoting her newest film “Amber Alert” while also speaking about the tragic and unexpected death of her younger brother last year, and fans began commenting on her slurred and slow speech, suspecting she was either ill or on drugs. Panettiere slammed the “click bait” culture and stated, “grief looks different on everyone,” while thanking her supporters.
- The “MomTok” world just got a lot more dramatic when Taylor Frankie Paul, a Mormon TikTok mom-fluencer, revealed her ‘soft-swinging’ lifestyle, leading to her divorce and a scandal good enough for television. Hulu has now released the series, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”, which takes viewers on a wild ride with eight Mormon influencers as they navigate the fallout and chaos of their viral lifestyles.
- In more reality TV news…“The Boyfriend” debuts as Japan’s first same-sex couple dating show. Japan’s socially conservative government does not recognise L-G-B-T-Q unions, however the entertainment industry hopes to destigmatize these couples. While the content of the show is relatively tame compared to American dating shows, the series has been given a warm welcome online.
That’s all for your pop culture news today. If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to share it with your friends. Have a great rest of your Monday and as always, thank you for listening to Current2 Pop Culture.
