July 24th Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint meeting of Congress that came with a lot of controversy. 80 House Democrats and six Democratic senators skipped Netanyahu's speech on Wednesday. Vice President Kamala Harris did not preside in her constitutional role as President of the Senate. During Netanyahu's speech was ramped up in preparation for the event and thousands of protesters were outside the capital during the speech. The overall speech itself was focused on maintaining us support for Israel. In his speech, Netanyahu thanked the US for its support but also urged to speed up military aid to Israel saying this could quote dramatically expedite an end to the Gaza conflict. He also mentioned Iran and the Middle East in general quote in the Middle East, Iran's axis of terror confronts America. Israel and our Arab friends. This is not a clash of civilizations. It's a clash between barbarism and civilization. It's a clash between those who glorify death and those who sanctify life for the forces of civilization to triumph. America and Israel must stand together. He also mentioned, Israel is actively engaged in intensive efforts to secure the release of the remaining hostages and express confidence that those efforts would be successful. He also condemned the pro Palestinian protesters including those who have demonstrated recently on us college campuses saying they quote chose to stand with evil. After the speech, police did continue to clash with protesters and an American flag was burned. Former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi slammed Netanyahu's speech calling it by far the worst presentation of any foreign dignitary Biden and honored with the privilege of addressing the Congress of the United States. Quote, many of us who love Israel spent time today listening to Israeli citizens whose families have suffered in the wake of the October 7th Hamas terror attack and kidnappings the head of the Palestinian mission to the UK said today was a quote disgraceful day for the US role in world peace and global security. Hussam Zam a lot said Benjamin Netanyahu would quote, do anything, maintain his power including what the calls, quote, genocide in Gaza. Netanyahu's time in the US is not complete.
